EUROPEAN   CONTEMPORARY   HISTORY   TOURS

YEAR 2012 tours

Our most successful routes (since 1997) were the Holocaust and the Normandy tour, itineraries can be found in the menu on the left. Under the link Customized tours you may find examples of tours we did and are representative for our 2012 tours.

In 2012 we offer the following journeys:

1. May 6 till May 13 a 6-day Spring Blossom sightseeing trip
    including an excursion to the battlefields of Normandy.
2. May 18 till May 28 a 10-day Holocaust journey  coming to all its highlights.
3. June 15 till June 24 a 9-day Holocaust tour coming to its major highlights.
4. From January until April for school classes and other groups every first and
    third Friday of the month a 9-day European recent history journey.

1.  ITINERARY 6 DAY SPRING BLOSSOM WEST EUROPEAN JOURNEY

     May 2012 Rate: Euro 1630 and for single travellers Euro 1990

May       highlights of the tour
Su 6 Participants leave for Amsterdam the Netherlands
Mo 7Welcome on Amsterdam airport (Schiphol) by Cor and Johan Suijk followed by a Spring Blossom Sightseeing trip - walk through the world famous Keukenhof Flower park. Therafter a visit of the Anne Frank House and an Amsterdam Canal Cruise.
Tu 8We proceed today for Bruges (Belgium) with en-route visit to the enchanting Kinderdijk Mills Parade. Also a visit to the Dutch Tsunami Defense System "Neeltje Jans".
We 9Bruges city sightseeing tour, followed by leisure time, ready for an Atlantic Ocean coastal ride to Caen (France).
Th 10All day D-day tour of second world war Normandy highlights.
Fr 11In the morning we leave for Paris and stop at painter Monet's country house in Givern. Thereafter in Paris the Eifel Tower, Dome des Invalides and Notre Dame
Sa 12 Coach to various stops and leisure in Paris and back to Amsterdam (you may plan your return flight from Paris)
Su 13shuttle to Amsterdam Airport terminal

2. ITINERARY 10 DAY HOLOCAUST JOURNEY
    May 2012 Rate Euro 2250 and for single travellers Euro 2790
May       highlights of the tour
Th 17
Participants fly to Amsterdam; arriving Friday before 8.30 am
Fr 18  Welcome by Cor and Johan Suijk at the airport followed by Amsterdam canal cruise. Thereafter visits to the Corry Ten Boom museum in Haarlem and Anne Frank House in Amsterdam
Sa 19 By coach to Westerbork for a guided walk over the camp grounds. To Germany for a visit to camp Bergen-Belsen with camp museum and cemetery.
Su 20 Berlin is our next stop to visit Wannsee villa followed by a 3 hour city sightseeing tour.
Mo 21 To Ravensbrueck and further to Dresden where we visit the Dom and Zwinger.
Tu 22Auschwitz-Birkenau for a 4 hour guided visit and to Krakow.
We 23In Krakow we visit Schindler's factory and we continue to Prague in the Czech Republic.
Th 24Guided visit of the Terezin Fortress and Ghetto. Thereafter optional to Lidice village and museum or leisure in Prague.
Fr 25An audio assisted visit of Mauthausen. Later on a visit Eagles Nest at Berchtesgaden.
Sa 26Camp Dachau with audio assisted visit of the former Nazi Headquarters.
Su 27 

Court House Neurenberg and back to Amsterdam.

Mo 28departure for USA.

3. ITINERARY 9-DAY HOLOCAUST JOURNEY 2012
    June 2012  Rate Euro 2060 and for single travellers Euro 2600

June       highlights of the tour
Th 14participants leave the USA for Amsterdam, arrival Friday 15th
Fr 15welcome at Schiphol airport by Cor and Johan Suijk followed by an Amsterdam canal cruise and city walk. On the program is also a visit to the Anne Frank House.
Sa 16We travel to Berlin, Germany, for a  guided visit of camp Bergen-Belsen.
Su 17In Berlin we have a 3 1/2 hour guided bus tour and visit the Wannsee villa. Later on to Dresden to visit the Cathedral and Zwinger.
Mo 18To Poland for a guided 3 hour visit of camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, followed by the old city walk.
Tu 19After a visit of Schindlers factory on to the Czech Republic
We 20In Terezin a 3 hour guided visit of the Small Fortress and Ghetto followed by a Castle visit, Karlsbridge and Old Town.
Th 21Next country is Austria for an audio assisted visit of camp Mauthausen, Alp sightseeing & enchanting Koeningssee.
Fr 22
Back to Germany, Munich and a city tour. Nuremberg is our next stop for an audio-assisted visit to the Nazi HeadQuarters.
Sa 23Courthouse Nuremberg trial and back to Amsterdam
Su 24Shuttle bus to airport terminal Amsterdam - Schiphol

4. ITINERARY 9-DAY EUROPEAN RECENT HISTORY JOURNEY
     FOR SCHOOL CLASSES AND OTHER GROUPS

Cor Suijk

Our annual Tours to Europe, renowned since 1988, are particularly interesting for High and Middle School teachers. Nevertheless, anyone who wants to widen his or her horizons may sign up with us.

Cor Suijk was President of the Contemporary Holocaust Education Foundation
(c-hef.org) in New York and CEO Emeritus of the Anne Frank House Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is renowned for his efforts to bring the "Anne Frank in the World" exhibit throughout the world. A Dutch Christian, who helped Jews during World War II, he is a survivor of imprisonment by the Germans.
